Thank you for your comments. The No Kill Shelters could really use your support from a Motorcycle Fundraiser so I , times are tough with so many hands out for the charity dollar. There was a similar fundraiser held last August – a River Ride and it was very successful. Let me know if we can help.

Lori, this is true. Buddy is gone-no second chance, killed him without a second thought. We have arranged a meeting with the powers that be at WHS for next week and we will post the results of that meeting.

The only good that can come of out this sad event is change at WHS-major change of attitude and policy. The Shelters and rescues have to be let in as part of the solution to animal welfare in Manitoba.

THIS IS UNFORGIVABLE! WE WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT OR DONATE TO THE WPG. UNHAMAIN SOCIETY! THERE WAS NO REASON TO MURDER THIS DOG! This is all too familiar a story when it comes to the WHS. It’s because of stories such as this that I DO NOT ever support the WHS. When they all seeking donations, I simply tell them “sorry, but we only support no-kill shelters” they usually are quick to hang up on me. The humane society lacks any humanity at all and I will continue to encourage any and everyone I know not to support them, and hopefully in due time, that building and organization will cease to exist.

It is ridiculous how much they charge to adopt a cat out, especially that they get a lots of donations, for what making the building to nice.. A lot of people prefer asking around or going on kijiji or something cause they could get a cat for free that is what I have always done. I feel bad for the no kill shelters cause people would prefer to take their cat there so they are over pacted. I do believe their should be license or something to stop the cat population. A lot of people just do get there cats fixed or anything cause of the cost. When my new kitten had mites, I was hopeing the Humane s. would help but they wouldnt so they vet tried to charge me $500 minimum & add extra stuff too

Concerned, trust me we share your outrage. WHS receives funds hand over fist from the public and private sector. I wonder how many of the high profile donors really know that their dollars are going to kill healthy animals.
Personally, I feel the number of healthy cats killed is double or triple the figures released by WHS who have 3 full time Vets and animal techs at their disposal who could spay and neuter the feral cat population. This in turn would reduce the number of unwanted litters.
Just to let you know, Lynne Scott from Craig Street Cats, D’Arcy Johnston, from D’Arcy’s ARC and I made a presentation to Winnipeg City Council on the viability of Trap, Neuter, Release in stead of irradication. Council was receptive due to the cost savings and long term solution, but there will be no immediation action on our presentation.
Meanwhile – healthy cats are being killed by the hundreds/thousands and WHS sticks their heads in the sand and in the coffers of the public and private donations.
